Colombian Balkan Beat nace de una pregunta muy personal: ¿cómo llevar el nombre de Colombia y su folklore a los biggest stages in the world — Tomorrowland, Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas, Sónar, Coachella — con un sonido propio, inconfundible, que no le deba nada a nadie? La respuesta es esta mezcla: EDM, House y AfroHouse sobre ritmos de Cumbia del Caribe, Champeta, Currulao, Andino y Llanero, interpretados en un estilo de Rave y Club con acordeón europeo estilo Balkan Gypsy, string quartet y un DJ Live Set que fusiona todo en un show cinematográfico.

The central axis of everything is the accordion. Not the accordion Colombia knows — but the accordion reinterpreted with Balkan and Gypsy ornamentations from Eastern Europe, applied to Colombian themes and rhythms. Same instrument, different technique, a result no one expected. That sound is Jay Maya.
